On August 20, 2009 the Government Computer News (GCN) folks announced their 2009 Agency IT Award Winners. We are proud to report that Data.gov was selected as one of the "outstanding IT initiatives for 2009".
"The annual GCN Awards honor agencies for their outstanding achievements in the application of information technology to advance their work and the services they provide” said GCN Editor-in-Chief Wyatt Kash. “The 2009 agency winners are now part of a tradition of innovation, excellence, and service. We congratulate them for their extraordinary work and their continued dedication to better serving the public sector.”
Data.gov was a complicated inter-agency effort that required coordination with project team resources from OMB, GSA, DOI, and EPA as well as dataset and tool submissions from agencies throughout the federal government. Congrats to the Data.gov team for this well deserved recognition!
