Stop the (PRA) Madness!

I just read a great article on the government's challenge of engaging the public with online surveys and feedback mechanisms while remaining in alignment with the Paperwork Reduction Act. The reality, as testified on The Hill by Karen Evans (4/28/09), is that engaging the public to obtain their feedback is something that sounds simple in concept but is burdened with massive bureaucracy. The public requires agility and responsiveness and citizen interaction with the govenment can be neither in a world when simple feedback mechanisms require weeks of paper-shuffling for approval.

My guess is that this Administration is actively working to change rules to make it much easier for the government to hear the great ideas that the public has to offer!
